It is the commom existence form of sodium perchlorate, which can gradualy absorbe water in the air to form the monohydrate. It is a chaotropic agent used in standard DNA extraction and hybridization reactions in molecular biology. It is widely utilized as a deproteinization agent during nucleic acid synthesis.
